like dissolves like

It my first week back in school and I was given so much homework it was horrible the only fun part about coming back to school was getting to see all of my friends. In chemistry we were given a specific assignment to blog about the topic was dissolving and like dissolves like. Like dissolves like is when similar molecules have the same bond and dissolve each other. An example of this can be that polar molecules only dissolve in polar molecules and nonpolar molecules dissolve in nonpolar molecules.A diffinition of this can be found on this pagehttp://www.ipfw.edu/chem/255/CHM%20255%20Fall%2005/255nt0514.htm
A picture of this can be seen onhttp://simscience.org/membranes/images/oilwater1.jpg.

Dissolving is when a solvent dissolves into a solute or it can also be when the solvent begins to fade into the solute. An example of this can be sugar water the sugar dissolves in the water.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/2740029722_6cec3f7fe1_b.jpgan image of this happening.
A diffinition can be found on this page http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&defl=en&q=define:dissolving&ei=bw5GS7raFJS-NuCwiPUC&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title&ved=0CAcQkAE .
