Dead Week

This Week is dead week, which meant that the whole week was full of review. In Chem class we did some labs such as the mole lab and we also made the Mole video. It was so funny but we got the mole formula down. We also got our test back i didn't do to good i got a 74%, but its okay because i heard that a lot of people didn't do well on that test.

Test

I am very scared we have a test this friday and i dont think i am ready i think i am going to do very bad. And if that isnt bad enough i think i realized the finals are 2 weeks away. This week was fun we got to see what liquids would bend. Also We read a comic which taught us but in a fun way.Thats all for this blog more comming soon.

Thanksgiving

Thank god it is thanksgiving! i am so happy i needed a break from school because it was getting so dull. I also am looking foward to sleeping, shopping and hanging with my family. I cant wait to see what i am going to do over the four days off there is so much to do and so little time. I also like this week in school because it was so chill because everyone was just waiting for the week to be over.

In Chem. class i picked the molecule ethanol. I thought it would be alot of fun to do research on ethenol. I finished my page eraly and i think it looks pretty good. We also did labs in class to help us see molecular compounds. It was fun because it was a hands on thing. I am also looking foward to Thanksgiving which is coming up.

Day off

This week was a strange week because we had wensday off for Veterans day. It was hecka good to have the day off i got to work for 5 1/2 hours so i made money and i got to relax. We did a cool lab this week where we anneled, hardened, and tempered bobby pins.It was fun because we got to use the flame and change the shape of a bobby pin. Also we got to see how different methods changed how the bobby pin was shaped. Thats it for this week more blogs next week.

Make up test

This week in Chem I had to go for tutoring afterschool on Monday and I had to make up a test. It was crazy it felt like the test was harder the second time then it was the first time but I did better on it the second time than i did the first.I also got to wait in the room for my friends to finish that was kinda fun but i was cleaning the desk with an eraser. We also did a lab about making a light bult shine it was really fun. More blogs next week.

Hallloween

Last week in Chem i feel like we did way more worksheet than labs, which bummed me out because i like doing labs more than worksheets. The lab that we did last week was on the visible light spectrum. In this lab we had to find the absorbtion that certain colors had. It was kind of hard my group mest up with the zeroing out. Then we went to the library but the computers were down! Also that same friday was Halloween so it was an all around crazy week.More next week.

Flame Lab

This week in Chem class we did by far the best lab. In chem class we did a lab where we got to see the flame change color with the certain elements we put in the flame. The flame changing to many different colors such as pink, red, yellow, green. I thought it was a lot of fun because I have never seen a flame change colors. Also today we got to change instead of our own documents other peoples documents.We wrote about Mole day and Homecoming. Thats it for this blog more next week!

Video!!!

All week durring chemistry we have been watching a cool movie. The movie is about Einstein and other scientist that ead up to Einstiens great creation of E=mc squared. I love watching this video because it is a fun way to learn things. This monday we have a test i am so scared i dont think i am ready i hope we review alot because i feel kind of lost. At least i have the weekend tho to get ready for the test instead of having to try to fit studying in over the week with all my other homework. That it for this blog more to come next week.

Making Spreadsheets

This week in Chemistry I learned to make a spreadsheet. At first it was hard but after playing around with the computer and with trial and error i finally made it right. It was very helpful to learn how to make the srepad sheet because I know it will help me in the future. The spreadsheet i made was on the radioactive half-life simulation decay. This lab was about flipping pennies and seeing the result of how many pennies remained. After flipping we would only flip the remaining pennies with the tail side up. All of the graphs of our data showed similar lines.

ISATEST and fun stuff

In chemistry class we had to take the Isatest. It was kind of easy but kind hard i hope i did good on it. We also went over our review for our test on Friday. I did good on the review! The best thing we did in class was when we played with dry ice. It was so cool when we put it in the water it made smoke and when we put a balloon with water and dry ice the balloon began to inflate. Also when we blew bubbles the bubbles were attracted to the dry ice but they wouldn't touch them.I hope we do more fun stuff like that more during the year! That's it for this post more to come.

This week in chem class

Its me again! During this week in chemistry we did a lab titled "Subatomic Heavyweights". In this lab we used our knowledge on atoms and their protons, neutrons, and electron. For this lab we were given ten atoms and were told to identify their protons, neutrons, and electrons. Also in this lab we were given a cgart that showed a certain piece of information of the atom. From that piece of information we had to fill in the rest of the chart. Thats it for this weeks blog more comming soon.

Update on the Labs

Hey its me again. So this week in chemistry I had to sing a duet with Kim I didnt sing well but Kim did.Sadly we werent in the video but thats okay because I didnt want everyone to see me sing badly. Also in chemistry we did a lab where we sort the cards and put them on the periodic table.We had to sort the cards with the color, shape, and mass. I am glad to say my group did a really good job at this lab. We got the right answer on the second try. The other lab that we did this week was similar because we had to look at the a periodic table but this time instead of us making the groups we had to be able to idnetify the groups on the table. Up date on the Labs we did

So last week we did 2 cool labs. In one of the labs we tried to guess what the item was in the container such as if it was a metal, nonmetal, metalloid, conductor, dull, or shinny. My group and I did very good at this lab we were right with almost all of our answers. The other lab we did in class was a lab in which we had to go to several tables and find the mass and voulume for certain objects. In some cases it was easy to find the answer but in other cases it was a bit more difficult. Also this lab was some what hard because it felt like we were being rushed, but other than that i thought the lab was good. This lab was also important to do because it showed us the mass volume and density equations, that reminds me of the songs Mr. Olsen taught us. More blogs to come soon!

In class Labs

In class we have had many fun labs the first lab we had was the penny lab. I liked this lab because it was some what of an illusion you change the penny from copper to gold. I know in reality the penny didn't really become gold but the color changed to gold. What i saw happen was a chemical reaction.The next lab we did was when we weighed object, this lab was about guessing the weight of an object than actually wieghing it and seeing how close you were to the actual amount.I was bad at getting the actual amount.More blogs coming soon.

My Goal :D

My name is Catalina Ibarra. I love to play sports such as waterpolo and softball. During my free time I enjoy going on the internet and listening to my music on my playlist. My favorite color is black.

My goals are to do well in chemistry and any science classes I take because I wish to become a doctor when I grown up. When I learn new items I do not want to just memorize the facts and then forget them after the test, I want to remember them and be able to fully understand them. Another one of my goal is to be able to keep a balance between my school work, sports, and music. I hope my sophomore year in high school will be a good one and I hope I achieve good grades.
